Coaching for Transformation, Coaching Certification for Nonprofit Sector Jan 2, 2011 by Admin

What is the Coaching for Transformation Coach Certification Program?

Coaching for Transformation (CFT) is a 140-hour coach training program leading to certification as a professional coach. CFT is an International Coach Federation accredited program and a part of Leadership that Works, an organization with a rich history in coaching and coach training.

CFT has been offered for several years through the New York Open Center for therapists, social workers, managers, executives, consultants, teachers, medical providers, clergy, wellness practitioners and entrepreneurs. In 2011, CFT will be providing a coaching certification program in San Francisco specifically focused on recruiting and training people from the nonprofit sector to become certified professional coaches.

How will the CFT nonprofit training in San Francisco differ from other coach training programs?

The CFT San Francisco training cohort, beginning in 2011, will be the first coaching certification program specifically focused on the nonprofit sector. Our vision is to increase the availability of coaching in the nonprofit sector, as well as in the diverse communities with whom nonprofits work, by increasing the number of certified professional coaches who have skills, experience and dedication in working within the nonprofit sector.

The CFT San Francisco program is especially suited for people committed to nonprofit coaching and prioritizes:

  • Creating a diverse, multicultural cohort of participants committed to bringing nonprofit coaching to diverse, underserved communities.

  • Tools, techniques, mentoring and peer learning for working effectively in the nonprofit sector and with diverse communities are included in the training curriculum.

  • Work and life experiences of participants, including their experience working in the nonprofit sector and diverse communities, enhancing interactive, experiential learning.

  • Multicultural awareness (ethnic, socio-economic, sexual orientation, geographic, etc.) and addressing the assets and challenges faced by people who are not of the dominant culture is imbedded in the training curriculum.

  • Honoring cohort participants’ knowledge and their learning needs to ensure a rich and successful training experience.

  • Participants and trainers becoming a supportive, intentional learning community through the nine-month training.

  • A training schedule that allows participants with full-time jobs and other priorities to attend.

  • CFT’s commitment to making the training financially accessible to people working in the nonprofit sector and therefore, fees for participants are significantly lower than fees required by other accredited coach training programs; scholarships and payment plans are also available.
